BOOKING
Q. How do I book?
A. Follow this link for more information.
Q. How do I find out what times the aircraft operate?
A. If you go to the home page and follow the link for either scheduled flights
or flightseeing it will lead you through the various steps required in order to
be able to give you the timings for the journey you want on the day you want.
Q. How far in advance do I need to book?
A. Obviously we'd like you to book as far in advance as possible. The aircraft
are quite small and so capacity is limited. During the peak months flights are
often fully booked some time in advance, so to get your first choice tour or
flight it's best to book early.
Q. What if I need to change my flight?
A. If you wish to change your flight details before you travel, details are
shown here. Once you are in Canada you
can call Harbour Air and if they have space they will generally allow you to
change your booking, this does not necessarily apply to tours.
Q. Are there any discounts for children?
A. Yes, on most tours and scheduled flights children 11 or under receive a 50%
discount. In order to qualify we need to know at the time of booking the
childrens ages on the date of travel. For full information see our fares page
here.
Q. What are the most popular tours?
A. From the UK the top three tours are, VAN8 Search for Orca Whales, VAN6 Fly n’
Dine, VAN9b Victoria Day Trip.
Q. What happens in the event of poor weather?
A. For flight-seeing tours the flight can either be cancelled or re-arranged for
a later time, your choice. On scheduled flights to Victoria it's unusual for the
weather to cause flights to be cancelled except sometimes in the case of strong
winds or fog. If flights are cancelled you can choose either a full refund or
try again later (subject to space).
Q. Do I need to reconfirm my flight.
A. It is not essential but we always suggest that it is worthwhile calling
Harbour Air the day before your flight in order to make certain that there have
been no schedule changes since making your original reservation.
Q. I live outside the UK, can I still book through you?
We can accept bookings from other European countries as long as you are able to
send us payment in Sterling. In some instances (to certain countries) we will
email a confirmation / e-ticket to you rather than mail a paper ticket. If this
is the case there will be no extra charge for this service.
CHECK-IN
Q. What is the baggage allowance?
A. On all flights the allowance is 25lbs. This must include what would normally
be considered hand baggage. Excess baggage will be carried only if there is
space available and sometimes this will be on then next available flight, which
might not be the same day. If you prefer you may choose to purchase another seat
to guarantee carriage of your heavy baggage with you (maximum allowance of
176lbs, some size restrictions will apply). All baggage is checked, generally no
hand baggage is allowed in the cabin.
Q. How far in advance do I need to check in for my flight?
A. No later than 30 minutes. If you want to take photographs before boarding we
suggest that you allow a few extra minutes to do this.
Q: What do I need to show at check in?
A: You will be required to produce your ticket and photo ID upon check in.
Please have this available when checking in for your flight.
Q. I am connecting on to another airline, can I through-book my baggage, and how
long do I need to connect?
A. You cannot through-book your baggage when checking-in with Harbour Air. The
amount of time you need to allow to connect depends on your route and which
airline you are connecting to. We cannot give accurate information on this and
neither Harbour Air nor ourselves can accept responsibility for missed
connections for whatever reason.
ON-BOARD
Q. Will I have a window seat?
A. It really depends on the aircraft used and the number of passengers on board.
We cannot guarantee a window seat but you will not be more than one person from
the window. In the Single Otters new panoramic windows have been installed
giving unparalleld sightseeing and photo opportunities.
Q. Can I take photographs and videos on board?
A. Yes, it's the ideal opportunity to get some unique pictures from the
aircraft.
Q. How high will I fly?
A. Again it depends on a number of factors such as the tour you take, the
weather and the route taken. On flights to Victoria for example you'll usually
travel at less than 2500 ft, sometimes as low as 500 ft. For flights from
Nanaimo you’ll rarely travel above 700ft.
Q. Are there any toilets on board the aircraft?
A. No, the aircraft are too small and the flights too short. All Harbour Air’s
bases have toilet facilities and most flights are less than 35 minutes long !
Q: How long is the flight between Vancouver-Victoria / Vancouver-Nanaimo /
Vancouver-Gulf Islands / Richmond-Gulf Islands? ?
A: The flight times are as follows: Vancouver/Victoria - 35 minutes. Vancouver/Nanaimo - 20 minutes. Vancouver/Gulf Islands - Depending on stops - 30
minutes to the first stop and add 15 minutes for every other stop.
THE EQUIPMENT
Q. Are the aircraft safe?
A. All aircraft operated by Harbour Air are licensed by the Canadian civil
aviation authorities in the same way that other Canadian airlines are licensed.
The fact that the aircraft are smaller doesn't alter the rigorous safety checks
required.
Q. How many engines do the aircraft have?
A. All Harbour Air aircraft are single engined.
Q. How suitable are the aircraft for physically disabled passengers?
A. Frankly - not very. Getting into all aircraft requires negotiating a few
narrow steps over water, and depending on the aircraft, a narrow aisle when in
the aircraft, and because the aircraft are moored on water they may be moving a
little as well. Contact us if you have any questions regarding this.
Q: How many seats are there on Harbour Air aircraft?

from 6 - 14. All of the specification are posted -
